Competency: A competency is a specific, observable unit of work which can be broken down into 2 or more steps, which results in a product or service. They describe what a competent journeyperson can do.
General Area of Competency (GAC): A GAC is a group of competencies, which together define a distinct set of job activities.
Note: Ensure that you pay attention to how many questions are in each GAC. Focus on GACs which have the most questions and which you’ve rated yourself as having low or medium experience.

Process to submit a Level Challenge Application
To apply to challenge a level of your apprenticeship:
If you meet all the requirements and have completed each step above, your exam request will be processed within 15 days. Once your exam date has been confirmed you will be notified by email.
